From This Day Forward Marriage Conference
Toronto, ON * November 6, 2004
TORONTO, ON: On November 6, 2004, about 60 married and engaged couples from across Canada and the Detroit, Michigan area participated in From This Day Forward, a one-day celebration of marriage commitment opened to the general public and held at the Crowne Plaza Toronto Don Valley Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
Sponsored by the Ontario Conference, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada and Family Ministries of the North American Division, this is the last of five From This Day Forward marriage conferences taking place across North America in 2004.
The event consisted of presentations made by Don and Sue Murray of Columbia Union College and Andrews University, respectively, and by Elaine and Willie Oliver from the North American Division's Family Ministries.
During a day that lasted from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, couples learned skills on communication, problem solving, forgiveness and commitment, as well as a greater understanding for dealing with the more intimate aspects of married life.
"Thank you for candidly yet gently touching key 'hot spots' that need to be addressed and openly so" a participant shared in her evaluation of the conference. Another stated, "Your lecture on forgiveness hit home and will allow me to forgive myself and be closer to my spouse."
The event concluded with the renewal of wedding vows and the challenge to "live, love, learn and leave a legacy." Five of the participants requested Bible studies and are being followed-up.
